Damien Boyer-Gibaud, 35, announced on Friday his candidacy for the presidency of the French Federation of Ice Sports (FFSG), shaken by a scandal of sexual violence in skating. The president of the Angers ice dance club made himself known a few weeks ago by writing a letter asking for the resignation of Didier Gailhaguet after the successive revelations on cases of sexual harassment in his federation. This is the third candidacy after those of former skater Nathalie Péchalat and ex-figure skating judge Marie-Reine Le Gougne.

"Motivated by regular requests, deeply worried about the future of our federation, I wanted to consult certain counterparts presidents of clubs and leagues before expressing my opinion," said Damien Boyer-Gibaud, in a press release sent to AFP. "After careful consideration, I am now ready to take on this project and present my candidacy for the presidency of the Federation today," added Mr. Boyer-Gibaud. Volunteer President of ADSG (Angers dance and ice sport) since 2017, he is a business manager in real estate.

In the event of an election and "as a first measure", Mr. Boyer-Gibaud will create "an office of ethics and professional conduct, an independent and professional unit responsible for taking care of victims and settling internal conflicts". The election, organized following the precipitous resignation of President Didier Gailhaguet in early February, will take place on March 14.
