Nilla Fischer has suffered injuries to both the left knee and the health. The last time she played an entire match was at the end of August. Fischer was also absent when Peter Gerhardsson took out the squad for the Algarve Cup yesterday.

- It is making progress. Since then we have had a great dialogue with the union leadership, especially me and Peter (Gerhardsson). The Algarve Cup, with their format, is tough for a player who hasn't played 90 minutes since August really. Although she would play every other, it is a tough match in that tournament. Then I put no value in the team selection but it is their decision. But that's how the reasoning has gone, says Linköping's head coach Olof Unogård to SVT Sport.

Gerhardsson about Fischer's injury

Ready for the Swedish Cup

Although Nilla Fischer has not played a whole match since August, she has always been matched during the preseason by Olof Unogård.

- She played 30 minutes last and 45 minutes the match before that. But Nilla Fischer is not ready for 90 minutes with us, says Unogård.

On Sunday, Linköping will play its first competition match for the season when Gothenburg faces the opposition in the Swedish Cup. Although Fischer cannot play 90 minutes, she is ready and ready to start.

- We must see how we do there. Generally speaking, you do not want to start a player that you have to replace, but then we have a pretty tough injury situation in the team. It could very well be that she can start anyway. It's open right now, says Olof Unogård.
