There was no Swedish goalkeeper meeting when the New York Rangers met Chicago away in the NHL ice hockey.

In the Chicago goal, Robin Lehner stood - but instead of Henrik Lundqvist, so many times recently was a talented young Russian in Rangers goal cage. Aleksandr Georgijev had this time replaced Igor Sjestiorkin, who was back after missing three games due to injury. And it was the 24-year-old who walked out of the goalkeeping match. Thanks to the Russian making 37 saves, against Lehner's 35, the Rangers were able to win the match by 6-3.

Five quick goals

The law was equal, 1–1, after the second period. But then it was thirteen heavy minutes for Lehner in the Chicago goal. Rangers peppered four goals in less than ten minutes - three of them played by Mika Zibanejad. The Swede soon put the nail in the coffin by setting the finishing goal himself. The fact that Chicago's Drake Caggiula managed to reduce (assisted by Alex Nylander) in the middle of the Rangers goal suite was a small consolation.

The New York Rangers have now won five of their last six games, but are only in eleventh place in the Eastern Conference and are struggling to make it to the playoffs. The king of the team for so many years, Henrik Lundqvist, has been getting scrappy with playing time and has not played the last four matches.

Boston is leading

Chicago, too, has been tough. The team is in twelfth place in the Western Conference and is also fighting for a playoff spot.

In the top, Boston, on the other hand, extends its lead. The team won against Edmonton by 2-1 after an extension and have now won ten of their last eleven games. The team thus has the most points in the entire NHL and goes out to two Tampa bay.
