Each season, the biathlon world cup is decided at ten different locations around the world, a total of about 40 race days. In addition, there is the World Cup every season, except for the Olympic Games, and a European Championship every year.

- The interest in biathlon has increased significantly in recent years and today biathlon is one of the most popular sports in both Sweden and Europe. Sagittarius's built-in dramaturgy and Sweden's great success with Olympic and World Championship medals in recent years have attracted interest and nowadays also have a daily competition around 500,000-600,000 viewers in SVT, says Åsa Edlund Jönsson.

"Incredibly happy"

Sweden's big star on the women's side, Hanna Öberg, has in addition to her Olympic and World Cup gold, also been awarded the Jerring Prize and the Bragdguldet. Sebastian Samuelsson, Olympic gold in relay 2018, received the Sports Mirror Award at the Sports Gala. Behind today's star names are also strong future promises like Elvira Öberg.

- We are incredibly happy about the agreement as it ensures that biathlon through public service reaches the Swedish people. The collaboration with EBU (European Broadcasting Union) and SVT has helped us establish biathlon at a high level with great interest in the Swedish people, says Niklas Carlsson, secretary general of IBU (International Biathlon Association).

Next year will be a super season for the Winter Studio, broadcasting from the World Cups in biathlon, length, alpine and ski cross, and from three Winter World Cups. In the following seasons, the Winter Studio will be built around the World Cup and the World Cup in biathlon as well as the length and alpine competitions that are decided in Switzerland and Austria.

In addition, the competitions from the SM Week and other strong winter sports will have a large space in Sweden's most popular sports program. The Winter Studio will also contain a strong reporting story and will continue to be the program that most clearly debates and reviews winter sports.
