"The King of New York" has been petitioned from the throne.

Lundqvist, Rangers' foremost goalkeeper of all time, is now competing for the first track with Russian talents Igor Sjestiorkin and Aleksandr Georgijev, both 24 years old. Coach David Quinn confirmed this weekend that the Swede is no longer the first choice, but Sjestiorkin.

In a longer interview with Expressen, Lundqvist now talks about the situation.

- Obviously I want to play. And it has not been much in the last two months. The situation is as it is. It is very different, says Lundqvist.

Rumored to be in Colorado

Since New Year he has only started in four games. Three have ended with a loss.

When asked how the discussions go with coach Quinn follows a long silence before the star replies:

- It doesn't look like I'm going to play the whole lot. So are the discussions.

The final date for third in the NHL is February 24 and rumors place Lundqvist - who has played in the Rangers since the NHL debut in 2005 - in Colorado.

The veteran does not want to comment on the rumors further than "internal discussions are ongoing".

"Discusses internally"

Expressen: Have you discussed releasing the no trade clause?

Expressen: It wasn't a no ...

- As I say, the focus is on the workouts and doing it as well as I can. Then ... the discussions we have, we keep them in-house, it's not something we talk to you about.

Henrik Lundqvist left Frölunda and Sweden in 2005 to test succeed in the NHL. There he has made 885 matches for Rangers (459 victories) and among other things been named the league's best goalkeeper (Vezina Trophy) season 2011-2012.
