During the detention, Kushitashvili hit one of the employees. During the search, cocaine was discovered by the boxer. The court sent Kushitashvili under arrest. On February 14, the Second Western District Military Court left the athlete in custody after an examination found traces of cocaine in his analyzes.

After that, Kushitashvili was suspended for life from speaking for the Russian national team.
