The Egyptian star Mohamed Salah won the award for the best player in Liverpool today, last January, after he contributed significantly to the Reds' victory over Sheffield, Tottenham, Manchester United, Wolverhampton and Westham, and moved further away to the top of the Premier League.

Salah, who participated essentially in the five matches, scored three goals and passed three assists, which led him to outperform his rivals in the award vote: Jordan Henderson and Alison Baker.

"I am happy to win this award, and as I said before, the important thing is to win matches, and I think we have achieved good results this month, so we hope that we will continue to achieve that," Salah told Liverpool's website after receiving the award in Milwood.

His stoppage-time goal against Manchester United at Anfield was also won by the Reds' best goal last month as well. Salah won the Player of the Month award last August.

Salah expressed his happiness with his first goal against United and said, "I scored a goal against Manchester United after two years ... that was my favorite moment."

Liverpool top the Premier League standings with 73 goals, 22 points behind second-placed Manchester City. It is enough for the Reds to win only six of the 13 remaining matches, in order to officially announce the champions who have been absent from the treasures for 30 years.
