The General Secretary of the Football Association, Mohammed bin Hazam Al-Dhaheri, announced that 14 candidates submitted their applications to run for membership in the Football Association Board of Directors during the elections scheduled for March 12, before closing the candidacy door at five o'clock yesterday evening at the headquarters of the Football Association in Dubai.

It is noteworthy that Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al-Nuaimi takes over the presidency of the Football Association by acclamation, provided that the new board of directors is elected in the upcoming elections for the 2020-2024 tournament, and succeeds the previous board of directors, headed by Marwan bin Ghalita, who submitted his resignation earlier.

According to the list system adopted by the Extraordinary General Assembly at its last meeting, the President of the Football Association has the right to choose eight of the 14 candidates in his list, provided that he also appoints three of them directly, to complete the 11 new board members.

The Secretary-General of the Football Association said in press statements after the closing of the candidacy door yesterday: “The General Secretariat of the Football Association received the applications of the candidates in closed envelopes, and in turn transmitted them to the committee supervising the elections of the Football Association, headed by Chancellor Salem Bahian Al-Amiri, which will hold a meeting tomorrow to examine the names Candidates are officially announced, as the committee is the only party concerned with revealing the names of the candidates, and appeals will be opened for the candidates as of the 20th of this month.

Al-Emarat Al-Youm learned that the candidates from the clubs are: Hisham Al-Zarouni (Sharjah), Hamid Al-Tayer (Al-Nasr), Ali Hamad (Hatta), Yusef Hussain (Al-Hamriyah), Amal Bushalakh (Ras Al-Khaimah), Omar Sulaiman Al-Adab (Dibba Al-Hisn) , Jumah Al-Abdouli (Dibba Al-Fujairah), Ahmed Bin Darwish (Emirates), Abdullah Bin Saeed (Masfoot), Fahd Al-Hosani (Baniyas), Saif Al-Mansoori (Al Dhafra), Salem Al Shamsi (Al Ain), Sultan Salem (Al Madam), and Omar Al-Saiari ( Unit).
