Football Federation Secretary Mohamed Hazam Al-Dhaheri revealed that 14 candidates submitted their applications to run for membership in the Football Association Board of Directors before closing the candidacy door, at five in the evening, in preparation for the election of a new board of directors for the new electoral cycle 2020-2024, to succeed the former federation headed by Marwan bin Ghalita, who recently submitted his resignation, as the president of the federation will choose eight of these candidates in addition to three other people, the president of the union will also choose them to appoint the membership of the union to a total of 11 members, knowing that the elections will be held on March 12.

The Secretary-General of the Football Association said in press statements that "the General Secretariat of the Football Association received the applications of the candidates for membership of the Federation's board of directors in closed envelopes and in turn transferred them to the committee supervising the elections of the Football Association headed by Chancellor Salem Bahyan Al-Amiri, which in turn will hold a meeting next Sunday to examine the names of candidates And to announce them officially, as the committee is the only party concerned with revealing the names, and appeals will be opened for the candidates from next Sunday to 20 this month.

Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al-Nuaimi, Chairman of the Football Association’s Transitional Committee, won the position of President of the Football Association by acclamation, because the last candidate for competing for the post did not advance.

The list of candidates from the clubs included Hisham Al Zarouni (Sharjah), Hamid Al Tayer (Al Nasr), Ali Hamad (Hatta), Youssef Hussain (Al Hamriyah), Amal Boushalakh (Ras Al Khaimah), Jumaa Al Abdooly (Dibba Al Fujairah) Omar Suleiman Al Adab (Dibba) Al-Hosn), Ahmed Bin Darwish (Emirates Club), Abdullah Bin Saeed (Masfoot), Fahd Al-Hosani (Baniyas), Saif Al-Mansoori (Al Dhafra), Salem Al Shamsi (Al Ain), Sultan Salem (Al Madam), and Amer Al Saeiri (Al Wahda).
