The International Football Association (FIFA) published an analysis on the costs of players ’transfer deals in leagues worldwide during the last winter transfer period, and explained that the total value of these deals exceeded one billion euros.

4108 international deals were concluded during the open market transfer in 170 countries around the world last month.

The expenses paid by the English, German, Italian, Spanish and French clubs represented more than 70% of the total winter transfer deals, although these clubs concluded only 14% of the volume of deals worldwide.

The largest expenses for moving from the share of English clubs were more than 270 million euros, followed by the German League with 190 million euros.

The most expensive transfer deal in the last winter Mercato was the transfer of Portuguese Bruno Fernandez from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United for 55 million euros.

"The spending of the five major leagues of clubs appears to be continuing in the overall growth path of the past years, and these clubs have played a pivotal role in the global transfer market," FIFA chief legal officer Emilio Garcia said in a statement.

"FIFA has a duty to monitor and report on these activities and to provide greater transparency to the transfer system," he added.
