In September 2018, the members of the north turn of the Parc OL were very upset against the Marseille supporters present in the side stands despite a prefectoral decree. - Jérémy Laugier / 20 Minutes

  • OL welcome their Marseille rival this Wednesday (9:05 p.m.) in the quarterfinal of the Coupe de France.
  • The visitor parking lot will be empty for this poster, due to a prefectural order issued last Thursday to prohibit the presence of Marseille supporters at the stadium.
  • This configuration had not succeeded at OL in September 2018, with incidents having erupted in the stands of the Decinese enclosure in the middle of Lyon-Marseille (4-2).

It's been 17 months that the public at the Parc OL has been waiting for this Olympico, which has traditionally succeeded so well. If this quarter-final of the Coupe de France, this Wednesday (9:05 p.m.), promises to be electric on the ground in view of the rivalry between Lyonnais and Marseillais, the absence of visitor parking should logically be synonymous with a quiet meeting in the stands .

Impossible however to ignore the improbable overflows which broke out during OL-OM in September 2018 (4-2). Despite a prefectural order prohibiting their coming to Décines (Rhône), dozens (or even hundreds) of Marseilles supporters had manifested themselves by celebrating without reserve, and sometimes with provocative gestures, a goal by Florian Thauvin (39th).

After the clamor which followed Thauvin's goal, several OL supporters tried to attack the OM fans present in the side stands of the @GroupamaStadium #OLOM, via @ 20Minutes pic.twitter.com/1BNtlD6xV6

"The two clubs were convincing the prefecture" before ASSE-OM

Crowd movements in the two corners of Lyon had followed, many local ultras seeking to drive out "the intruders", finally exfiltrated by the stewards and the police. A landmark precedent that OL has in mind since Thursday and the decision of the Rhône prefecture to ban Marseille supporters again at Parc OL.

“It's a shame because I have the feeling that the two clubs were convincing the prefecture to allow the presence of visitor parking, reveals Xavier Pierrot, stadium manager of OL. If everything had gone well on ASSE-OM, there would have been several hundred Marseille supporters authorized. But given the serious incidents of the past week in Saint-Etienne, the decision of the prefecture can unfortunately be understood. "

Nearly 40,000 spectators expected at Parc OL

In order to avoid reproducing the scenario of September 2018, OL this time redesigned its ticket office, taking care not to allow anyone to be able to buy a seat for this match anywhere in the stadium. “So we reserved our subscribers the places in the two turns, says Xavier Pierrot. The low and intermediate levels have been blocked for subscribers and members with the MyOL card, with very advantageous prices from 10 to 40 euros. Only the high end of the stadium was open to everyone. "

The Lyon club, which expects between 36,000 and 40,000 spectators this Wednesday, recalls that "any spectator claiming to support OM can be arrested" because of the prefectural order. Nearly 250 police and between 800 and 900 stewards will be at the stadium for this "match classified at risk" requiring "increased vigilance".
