The Saudi Football Association decided today to end the contract of its Dutch coach Henk Tin Cat by mutual consent three months after his appointment, and to appoint his citizen and assistant Peter Hamburg to lead the team in the next stage.

Ten Cat, 65, a former assistant coach of Barcelona and Chelsea, has previously trained Al-Wahda (2018-2019) and Al-Jazeera (2016-2018) in the UAE.

Al-Ittihad lost to 1-2 in the league, hitting a public anger and demanding the coach's dismissal.

Al-Ittihad is ranked twelfth out of sixteen clubs with 19 points, 19 points from Al Hilal, after winning one time in the last eight games.

The club said in a statement on Tuesday that it had decided to "end the contract of the Dutch coach Henk Tenkat by mutual consent between the two parties after reviewing the results of the first soccer team in the last stage, thanking the coach for what he provided during the period he fought with the team."

"The board of directors has assigned the task of training the soccer team to its Dutch assistant Peter Hamburg to lead the helm of the first soccer team in the club," the statement continued.

The dismissal of coach Tin Cat, before the Olympic Olympique Safi Al-Maghribi match, came within the second leg of the King Mohammed VI Cup of Arab Clubs Champions, after the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw.
