Al Hilal Saudi Arabia started the campaign to defend the AFC Champions League title with a 2-0 victory over the Iranian month of Khodro in Dubai in the opening of the second group rounds, after Andre Carreo scored a goal and made another today, Sunday.

Al-Hilal waited until the end of the first half, to advance through a shot by Peru player Cario that changed its direction.

The Saudi League leaders confirmed their victory when Carreo penetrated from the left and passed to French striker Baftimbe Gomez to double the lead from close range in the 69th minute.

Al Hilal led the group with a goal difference from Pakhtakor, who beat Al-Ahly Dubai 2-1 in Tashkent earlier today.

In Uzbekistan, Pakhtakor beat its Emirati League leaders in the 18th minute through Jalaluddin Masharipov.

Shabab Al-Ahly clinched a draw via Spaniard Pedro Conde in the 67th minute, but the joy was short-lived, as Serbian Dragan Cheran restored the lead to the hosts after three minutes.

In the first group, the Saudi Al-Ahly returned with a point from the Emirati Al-Wahda Square, and the two teams tied with a goal for each.

Al-Ahly and Al-Wehda shared the group lead with the Iraqi police and the Iranian Independence 1-1 in Erbil.
