Melwin Lycke Holm, son of high jump legend Stefan Holm, made his international debut at an indoor competition in Helsinki today. In the Nordenkampen, where both juniors and seniors compete, he struck out with personal best.
The 15-year-old jumped 2.13. Four centimeters better than he jumped at the Swedish Championships in Karlstad in August.
- It's crazy. He's so cool. A little boy who hopes so wonderfully high, says union captain Karin Torneklint to Aftonbladet.
Melwin Lycke Holm was overjoyed to beat the best person.
- It was just fine. When you press four centimeters, you do not have much control over what you are doing. It was just running around, screaming, jumping and having fun, says Melwin Holm.
Elin Östlund also set the personal best. She won 200 meters in time 23.79, it is the tenth fastest time in the distance in Sweden ever.
