Former world number one Kim Kim Clijsters will return to competition at the WTA tournament in Dubai, advancing the date for her resumption, she said on Sunday. The Dubai tournament begins on February 17. Clijsters, who announced in September his return to the courts in 2020 after seven years of absence, has so far considered taking over in Monterrey, Mexico in early March.

A knee injury prevented her from making a comeback in January for the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season, which she won in 2011. "I am really delighted to be back on the courts", says the 36-year-old who has received an invitation to Dubai. “I can't wait to take back this game I love and replay it in front of the fans. The support and encouragement I have received since the announcement of my return has been extraordinary. ”

I'm accepting a wild card to play the @DDFTennis. Since announcing my return, there have been a few bumps but looking forward to returning to the match court and what this next chapter brings ... Thanks to all my fans for their encouragement these past weeks. See you in Dubai! pic.twitter.com/XOwIeEujyk
