The death of French Formula 2 driver Anthoine Hubert on August 31 during a Formula 2 race on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit (Belgium) is linked to a chain of events which does not identify inappropriate maneuvers , says the FIA.

"After an in-depth analysis of the various phases of the accident, no specific cause has been identified but a multiplicity of factors which have contributed to its gravity", underlines the International Automobile Federation in an investigation report published on Friday .

The American driver Juan Manuel Correa was seriously injured in the accident which involved four cars, those of Hubert and Correa as well as the cars of the Frenchman Giuliano Alesi and the Swiss Ralph Boschung who were not injured. "The investigation did not reveal any indication that a pilot had reacted inappropriately to the yellow flag signal or to the circumstances on the runway," said the report.

"The deployment of signaling flags and the triggering of rescue services by the marshals and the race director in response to the accident were carried out in short and adequate time," said the same source.

Correa still in rehabilitation

The death of Anthoine Hubert had been officially announced a few hours after the accident while Juan Manuel Correa, victim of serious leg injuries, is still in rehabilitation.
