The prize is awarded to the player in Sweden who, through his activities, has contributed to a more equal society. It was presented by the Gender Equality Director General Lena Ag during Forum Equality, Sweden's largest equality conference, which this year will take place on February 5-6 in Jönköping.

- In the beginning, few people believed that an equal sports watch was a realistic goal. Today we know that it is going and that it is a huge success factor. Equal sports coverage has given us more news, more live sports to broadcast, a greatly increased digital audience and great competitive advantages, says Åsa Edlund Jönsson, sports manager at SVT.

Has changed the image of the sports watch

The motivation emphasizes, among other things, that SVT Sport has changed the image of sports coverage for millions of viewers and athletes: “This year's winner is a world leader in equal sports coverage. SVT Sport has in a few years changed the content from the fact that 25 percent of the athletes who are lifted are women to today's 50 percent. With clear goals, methodical work and continuous follow-up, SVT Sport shows how a business can convert to equality in a short time. "The Swedish equality prize's objective is to contribute to a more equal and sustainable society."
