Will Didier Drogba take control of the destiny of Ivorian football? The president of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), Augustin Sidy Diallo, announced Tuesday, February 4 in Abidjan, that he would not seek an additional mandate, leaving the door wide open to the former international attacker, who, according to several sources, applied for the position.

"I will not run for a third term as the texts allow me," said Sidy Diallo, in office since 2011. AFP's second term ends on February 19, but the election can hold between February 20, 2020 and June 30, 2021, according to the texts of the federation.

Drogba, longtime candidate

Didier Drogba, the 41-year-old former captain of the Ivorian selection, was the first to show his interest in the position in 2019. But the former star striker of Olympique de Marseille and Chelsea, retired since the end 2018, will not be the only applicant.

Sory Diabaté, the first vice-president of the FIF, considered the colt of the outgoing president and the executive committee, also plans to run.
