Before the match against Brynäs, Luleå was already ready for second place in the SDHL, and it was noticed that it was a team with higher motivation to visit. Luleå had in itself a victory suite at home that stretched as far behind as 2015 to defend, but that would not be enough to stop Brynäs who was hunting in third place.

Brynäs started at a furious pace, and after six minutes of play, they forced Luleå to take time out after doing both 1-0 and 2-0 early. That would stop the bleeding for a while in any case, but after the home team acknowledged in powerplay in the second period, Brynäs took over overall.

Brynäs picked up in the second period and would advance to 4-1 through the so-feared chain with Lara Stalder, Katerina Mrazova and Denisa Krizova, who did not find a beautiful 2-0 goal from the first period. In the second, Mrazova showed class as she brought the puck into the zone, and despite being raised in the corner, Stalder managed to find a center that could hit her 42nd goal of the season.

Stalder and Mrazova would also be behind another goal when Michela Cava led 4-1, giving the visitors a lead they could comfortably defend in the third period and eventually won by 5-2.
