Tregaro, who is, among other things, the trainer for long-distance runner Thobias Montler, understands the decision not to organize the championship in Nanjing, but had rather seen it moved.

He mentions two different consequences that the decision to postpone the World Cup by one year will have. The first is that the sports miss the tough competitions and that too many can make it more difficult to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics this summer.

The other reason he mentions is that next year the indoor World Cup will collide with the indoor European Championships and it will be strange for the European sports.

"There are other cities that can organize the indoor World Cup 2020. World Athletics should rethink and give these cities a chance or discuss with the European Athletics Association and help them organize the indoor European Championships in March 2020.", writes Tregaro.

Here's how World Athletics wrote in its original press release:

"The advice from our medical team, which is in contact with the World Health Organization, is that the spread of coronavirus both within China and abroad is still at an alarming level and that we should not place the championship anywhere else as it risks being postponed again."
