Norwegian star Suzann Pettersen, who ended her career by lowering the winning podium for Europe against the US in Solheim, last fall was a secret presenter of the award, something that pleased Sörenstam. They both live in Orlando, a golf paradise in Florida.

- What a surprise, I did not expect you to be here, says Sörenstam, looking at the Norwegian.

For 30 years Sörenstam has been living in the USA but the roots remain.

"I am an Upplands-Bro girl"

- Thanks so much. I did not expect that. Fun to be here, good evening everyone. Although I live in the United States, I am an Upplands-Bro girl, she says. When we talk about sports, it gives us the same, both with love and tragedy. I want to send a greeting to Kobe Bryant and his daughter. Life is really fragile, but still you get to enjoy the experiences you have.

For SVT Sport, she develops her feelings of being at home again.

- It is very wonderful and fun to be home in Sweden. It's been a while since I was here last. I am very proud and grateful to be recognized for what I did on the course all these years and to look back on my career and to feel that I am worthy to receive this award. I feel very honored.

Along with the gala was her husband Mike McGee, who was also moved to tears, at the salute table. At home in front of the TV were the two children with Annika's parents.
