Completed on January 17, the Dakar 2020 has just experienced its second drama. After the death of the Portuguese biker Paulo Gonçalves during the seventh stage, L'Equipe informs us on Friday that Edwin Straver died from his injuries in a hospital in the Netherlands.
Victim of a fall during the penultimate stage on January 16, the 48-year-old Dutch biker suffered a fracture in the upper part of the vertical column. He had been taken to a hospital in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) after ten minutes of cardiac arrest, before finally being repatriated to the Netherlands. He was in a coma since that day.
