In the middle of the championship, Kim Ekdahl Du Rietz, Jim Gottfridsson, Lukas Nilsson and Andreas Nilsson chose to take a night out in Malmö.

The decision was criticized and afterwards the players apologized.

But now, the day after Sweden's European Championship fiasco was completed, Ekdahl Du Rietz takes the magazine out of his mouth to Aftonbladet.

"With the facts in hand, this was the best glass of wine I've ever taken," he begins.

Aftonbladet: Why that?

- I've rarely had so much entertainment from so little. But above all, it raises interesting questions about society in general. I took a glass of wine and went home at 22.20. It is fascinating how it could lead to all this.

- If I had been able to rewind time I would have done the same without hesitation. But afterwards I had been beaten even more from our (the players') direction that no apology would be produced. Because in my mind, there was nothing to apologize for. For me, it becomes very strange when you have to apologize when you have not done something wrong. To apologize is to admit that you have made a mistake. But if you come to the conclusion that nothing wrong was committed, it just feels strange, he tells the newspaper.

The national team star also says that the quartet should not have violated any internal policies. He says the excuse was fabricated.
