The distance of over 20 km in Slovenian Pokljuka became a special competition for several riders. Prior to the race, it was revealed that Frenchman Fabien Claude's father was missing after passing through the ice in a snowmobile accident in Canada on Wednesday.

Claude did, despite the circumstances, run his life and, for the first time, got onto the podium in the World Cup when he became third.

The news about the scooter accident affected several active people. One of those who had difficulty holding back the emotions afterwards was the Norwegian, Vetle Sjåstad Christansen, who became ninth in the race.

When Norwegian NRK afterwards asked him to sum up his race came tears. The Norwegian stood silent for several seconds before he could utter the words.

- We were told that Claudia's father, who is a good friend, is missing after a snowmobile accident in Canada. A ninth place is not particularly important today. It was nice for him (Fabien) to be third today.
