Zion Williamson is the player to take over as NBA basketball superstar after LeBron James. Most experts agree after a season of college basketball that is unparalleled.

After completely dominating the level during the pros with his combination of physique and game mind, Williamson chose to drop out of college.

He was the first choice in the annual NBA draft this summer and has already signed advertising contracts at record levels. But a knee injury in the preseason caused the debut to be postponed. Until now.

The 1.98-meter forward got a sluggish start to the game, but showed his potential when, in the fourth period, he put a full 17 points in succession - including four three-point shots - and gave New Orleans the lead.

Coach Alvin Gentry then chose to save his talent and replaced him for good with just over five minutes left and New Orleans, which is one of the league's worst teams, lost the match. Williamson is not yet 100 percent back from injury to play a full game.

- It's tough. I'm 19 and frankly, there and then, I don't think long term. I just want to win the game, so that was a tough decision, "says Williamson after the game, according to ESPN.

Despite the loss, Williamson is pleased with his debut.
