It was a noticeably satisfied Ljubomir Vranjes who met SVT Sports reporter in the mixed zone after the group final against Norway. The three goal losses did not seem to affect the Slovenia coach significantly since it was already clear before the match that the two teams could play the semi-finals in Stockholm.

- I'm happy, of course. I'm happy for the sake of the players. For the coach staff who have worked so hard for this. It is sixteen years since Slovenia was there so it feels good, declared Vranjes.

"Nice to have a quiet last match"

Slovenia finished second in Sweden's group two in the main round. The starting position and the tight game schedule meant that both Norway and Slovenia chose to rest players.

- It feels great that we got a quiet last match where I could rest 5-6 key players. That they could have an extra day of rest can mean a lot, says Vranjes to SVT Sport.

Ljubomir Vranjes has a solid experience of championship handball as a player, an experience he hopes to help the team in the semi-finals.

- I think the players feel a certain calm that I have during these matches. That I don't stress myself out for things.

Set against Spain

Would you like to make this trip with a Swedish national team?

- Which question. Of course, had I ever had the opportunity, it would have been optimal but it is not now, concludes Vranjes with a wide smile.

In the semi-finals, Slovenia faces Spain. A match played on Friday 18:00.
