Tarkhanov spoke about the victory over cancer
The representative of the “old school” of Russian coaches Alexander Tarkhanov always loved messing with talented youth. He does not sit on social networks, but he delighted the public with a much more important reason. 65-year-old Tarkhanov was able to defeat cancer.
The specialist without concealment spoke about his struggle with the disease in an open letter. It turned out that cancer was discovered almost by accident. A little over 13 years ago, Tarkhanov was urgently recommended to check the thyroid gland. He reluctantly went to see the doctor.
When the results of the medical study were ready, the coach took a steam bath with friends in the bathhouse. He was informed of a cancer by telephone. Tarkhanov reacted to the joyless news in a very original way: he went to the steam room and then drank beer. And a week later he lay down under the surgeon’s knife.
“When they told me about cancer, nothing bothered me at all. I ran 10 km a day and felt absolutely nothing. As far as I know, cancer worries when everything is already in its fourth stage. I was diagnosed with a third. But after the operation, the surgeon said such a thing: my tumors were calm, they could sit inside my whole life, and I would live in peace. But at any moment they could have bothered. Neoplasms were in both nodules. That is, the nodules were not hormonal, ”said Tarkhanov.
For complete healing, more operations were required. According to the coach, the depression did not torment him. After treatment, he recovered on the coast of the Baltic Sea, where he breathed iodine. And he soon returned to work. Now Tarkhanov is examined every year. Passes tests, markers, checks the neck and other organs. A prerequisite for his life was the regular intake of pills. Tarkhanov advises to take the disease more calmly and in no case to panic. In his opinion, losing your mind is much easier not because of illness, but because of psychology.
