The UFC president wants to see a return meeting between McGregor and Khabib

Conor McGregor made an outstanding comeback last night and won the knockout after just 40 seconds.

At the press conference afterwards, UFC President Dana White talked about how he wants to see the Irishman get another chance at the lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

When the big stars met in October 2018, the Russian won via submission in the fourth round, and the match was followed by scandal scenes and long shutdowns.

- Everyone wants to meet Conor and so it has been for years, but look at what he himself has said about the first meeting with Khabib. He was injured and went through a lot of personal stuff before that match. Now he is obsessed with meeting Khabib again, says White.

- Khabib and Conor's first match is the biggest in the history of the UFC, but I think a return could be even bigger.

McGregor himself - who has only played two games since November 2016 - has said he wants to be active in 2020.

- Do I want him to go three more games this year? Absolutely. But at the same time, one must also do what makes the most sense. I really think Khabib against Conor would be the best for the sport and their careers, ”says Dana White.

He also compares the duo with some classic boxing rivalries.

- Look at how famous Khabib has become after the last match. A new battle against Conor would have the same global appeal as Muhammad Ali against George Foreman, or Ali against Joe Frazier.

Dana White confirmed at the press conference that McGregor will face the winner in the title match between Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson, which will be decided on April 18 in New York.

He also paid tribute to McGregor's efforts against crowd favorite Donald Cerrone last night.

- I'm mute with admiration. He looked ridiculously good. He looked fast and strong and showed no signs of rust.
