After nine straight losses, many in Saab arena breathed a long-awaited victory after half the match played against the visiting Växjö.

Two goals in powerplay by Jarno Kärki and Henrik Törnqvist gave Linköping the lead with 2-0 and made the home team had the game in a strong grip.

But Växjö got up.

Martin Lundberg created a nerve with his 2-1 goal just before the end of the second period. And then when Miika Koivisto acknowledged 2-2 in the third, the pressured LHC coach Bert Robertsson feared a new bitter loss goal - which was also the case.

The match went to extension and with just under two minutes left on the clock, the meeting was decided after a least fatal mistake by Linköping goalkeeper Jonas Gustavsson.

The cage guard went out on a loose puck and thought to start the game quickly - but the pass was misread and easily broken by Roman Horak who then splashed the puck into the empty net.

3-2 to Växjö means that Linköping's loss is now up to ten straight matches. The situation is, to say the least, worrying for the team that is second to last in the table after 34 rounds.

Växjö, on the other hand, climbs up, past Brynäs, in tenth place in SHL.

After the match, Växjö announced the new acquisition Jacob Micflikier, 35. Forward comes most recently from Swiss HC Friborg-Gottéron. He played season 14/15 in Linköping and before that one season in Luleå.
