The second part of the marathon stage for KamAZ pilots turned out to be more than successful. At the special stage of Shubayt - Harad, they managed to take four first places. The victory was won by the leader of the overall standings Andrey Karginov. At the beginning of the race, he showed not the best time, but gradually moved forward. In the end, by the fifth control cut-off, a native of Tatarstan broke out in first place and gave the leadership to no one.

The second was Dmitry Sotnikov, who lost only one and a half minutes to his teammate, the third - Anton Shibalov (+3: 25), and the fourth - Eduard Nikolaev (+4: 18). Trying to pursue KamAZ pilots, Belarusian Sergei Vyazovich at the MAZ finished right after the Russians, but lost to Karginov for 12 minutes, which practically deprived him of chances not only in first, but also in second place in the overall standings.

Before the final stage, Karginov in total has an almost 40-minute advantage over Shibalov and is preparing to celebrate the victory. Vyazovich is third with almost two hours behind. But in fourth place Sotnikov got out, who took advantage of the serious problems of Czech Ales Loprais. But it is almost an hour from Vyazovich.

“The marathon stages went well, both days were successful. There was practically no work on the bivouac in Shubayt: they inspected the cars and carried out maintenance. And our rivals worked until the morning. Today I drove all day with Shibalov, and Nikolaev with Karginov. I am sure everyone was satisfied with the past stage. In fact, the marathon was not as scary as it seemed before it started. When you are on your way, everything is under control. Perhaps the canceled part of the first day has benefited, ”Sotnikova quotes R-Sport, referring to the team’s press service.

In this class, Sergey Karjakin continues to hold second place in the overall standings, which he got on the eve of. The Russians completed the 11th stage with the sixth result. In the middle of the special stage, he also rose to the fifth line, but lost it to Jesus Puras.

And the relative failure Karjakina instantly took advantage of Francisco Lopez Contardo. Chilean from Kan-Am had a great stage and won a beautiful victory, ten minutes ahead of Aron Domžale and 12 by Konrad Rautenbach. Thus, Kontardo reduced the backlog from the Russian in total from half an hour to 12 minutes and at the last stage will do everything to get around the teammate.

The victory was practically secured by another Kan-Am casey curry pilot. He spent the second part of the marathon calmly, trying to avoid unnecessary risk, and finished right after Karjakin (+17: 26). The lag of the Russian from the American in the overall standings has not practically changed and is 45 minutes.

But Carlos Sainz can’t feel calm before the final stage. According to the results of Wednesday, his advantage over the closest pursuer increased to 18 minutes, but on Thursday the Spaniard lost almost half of his handicap.

Throughout the 11th special stage, the struggle for victory was fought by the main rivals of Sainz Stefan Peteransel and Nasser Al-Attiyah. And the representative of Qatar, despite all efforts, was never able to get ahead of the Frenchman. At the finish they were separated in just ten seconds. Sainz finished the third with an eight-minute lag.

Now, in the overall standings, Carlos is ahead of Al-Attiyah by only 10 minutes and 17 seconds, and Peteransel - by 10 minutes and 23 seconds. Nevertheless, the Spaniard himself feels confident enough. After the race, he admitted that the main task for him was to calmly complete the marathon stage, and noted that on Friday he intends to control the gap from his pursuers.

Motorcycles and ATVs

Intrigue has revived in the motorcycle class. Here Pablo Quintanilla managed to play against Rikki Brabek, the leader in the total, for almost 12 minutes. But even on Wednesday evening it seemed that nothing threatened American leadership. Now rivals are separated by less than 14 minutes. However, to make such an impressive leap forward on Friday, the Quintanilla will, of course, be incredibly difficult, but he promised to fight to the end. In turn, Brabek after the race admitted that in the second part of the marathon he simply saved the car, and therefore finished only tenth.

Finally, in ATVs, Ignacio Casale practically secured his victory. At the penultimate stage, he even allowed himself to skip ahead of Rafal Sonic, but this did not affect his positions in the overall standings. Moreover, the Chilean increased the lead over the Frenchman Simon Wits to 21 minutes.
