René Eijkelkamp immediately starts working as a PSV striker trainer. FC Barcelona and Valverde apart
Official: FC Barcelona dismisses trainer Ernesto Valverde. The coach must clear the field after a number of disappointing results. Valverde was appointed by the Spanish top club in the summer of 2017 and led Barcelona to two national titles, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish supercup. He is the first fired Barcelona coach since Louis van Gaal in 2003.

FC Groningen sells Benschop to Apollon Limassol
It had been in the air for some time, but now it is final: Charlison Benschop leaves FC Groningen. The thirty-year-old striker signs a contract until mid-2021 with Apollon Limassol in Cyprus. Pepe Reina returns to the Premier League. The 37-year-old goalkeeper of AC Milan plays the rest of the season on a rental basis for Aston Villa. Reina was under contract with Liverpool between 2005 and 2014 and then played for Napoli, Bayern Munich, after which he signed with AC Milan in the summer of 2017. Excelsior loses Dogucan Haspolat to Kasimpasa. The nineteen-year-old midfielder, the first player born in 2000 to make minutes in the Premier League, signs a 3.5-year contract with the Turkish club. "We think it is a shame that Dogucan is leaving us, but on the other hand we are naturally proud that a player trained by our club will switch to a nice foreign club," says Managing Director Ferry de Haan. Paris Saint-Germain and Marquinhos continue to work together for longer. PSV confirms FC Cincinatti's bid for Pereiro
PSV confirms just before the friendly match against Eupen that FC Cincinatti has made an offer for Gastón Pereiro. The 24-year-old midfielder does not play exhibition games at the training camp in Qatar awaiting a transfer. The club management expects to come out with the American club, which plays in the Major League Soccer (MLS) and is led by Dutch trainer Ron Jans.
