The Extraordinary General Assembly of the Football Association decided during its meeting held today, Sunday, at the InterContinental Festival City Hotel in Dubai headed by the Vice-President of the Transitional Committee for the Football Association, Abdullah Nasser Al-Junaibi, to hold elections for the Football Association Board of Directors in the lists system instead of the previous system through direct candidacy, with effect From the next electoral cycle 2020-2024.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Football Association Muhammad Hazam Al-Dhaheri confirmed that the General Assembly of the Football Association also agreed that the UAE Football Association be a member of the Board of the Football Association without having the right to vote on the decisions issued by the Federation.

Mohamed Hazam Al-Dhaheri said in press statements after the meeting, "Regarding the amendments to the regulations for the elections of the Football Association, the General Assembly agreed to make an amendment to the text of Article 52" of the statute allowing clubs to submit the names of their candidates to the election committee, and then the president chooses the candidate to head the federation Among those names is his candidate list for the Board of Directors, as there was an objection by some members of the public to the mechanism for the nomination of the President of the Federation, which stipulated that the President first submit his list in full after the approval of his candidacy for the presidency, but the clubs refused to do so.

Al-Dhaheri pointed out that the general assembly agreed that running in the Union elections is based on the lists system as an alternative to the previous system, which is the direct candidacy by clubs.

"The general assembly also agreed that the formation of the board of directors alongside the president of the union be as follows: five representatives of professional clubs, three clubs of first degree and three members who are chosen by appointment, provided that among them is a member of the female component."
