The number of conflicts in figure skating has increased significantly recently. Full-time and virtual clashes occur between the coaching staffs, experts who defend opposing positions, fans of competing athletes.
Ambiguous situations often provoke the media. After a series of ice shows held during the New Year holidays, a number of Russian publications published information about the fees of their stars: Alina Zagitova, who played the main character in the production of Sleeping Beauty directed by Tatyana Navka. This situation happened with Sofia Samodurova, who decided to share her progress with subscribers: she almost perfectly performed a new triple axel. The 2019 European champion posted a video confirmation on her Instagram page with the caption “Can’t Samodurova? Step by step ”, alluding to the fact that there is still a lack of performance.

However, users of social networks were outraged that the student of Alexei Mishin decided to “brag” of the unfinished element. She immediately began to point out a flaw. At first, Samodurova patiently replied to subscribers that this was what was meant, but then decided to completely close the comments.

The crisis of Konstantinova
Not all Russians have everything going smoothly this season. The 2019 Universiade bronze medalist Stanislav Konstantinov admitted that at the moment her career is in crisis, and this affected her psychological state. The best result of the figure skater was seventh in the pre-season Ondrei Nepela Memorial tournament, and at the stages of the Grand Prix and the national championship, she failed to enter the top ten.
“The beginning came out quite peppy - performed at the festival in the USA as a preparation for the season, then rentals. Not without errors, but also not bad, and then ... After the failure at the Russian championship, the skater lost the chance to participate in the European and world championships, and therefore her season came to an end. However, she does not intend to say goodbye to the sport, and plans to devote time to new starts to the study of the axel in three and a half turns.
All skaters spend periods free of competition in different ways, some of them prefer to temporarily change their occupation.
