The criminal court of the Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal of former national track and field coach Miguel Ángel Millán Sagrera against his sentence of 15 years and six months in jail for sexually abusing two young people he trained when they were minors in Tenerife .

Millán was convicted in February 2019 by the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and filed an appeal to the Canary Superior Court of Justice that was dismissed, after which he presented to the Supreme Court an appeal that has now also been dismissed. .

In addition to the sentence of 15 years and six months in jail, Millán was sentenced by the Audience of Santa Cruz de Tenerife to special disqualification to train as a coach, to compensate his victims, not to develop sports activities with minors and to participate in a sexual orientation training program.

Miguel Ángel Millán, who has been in prison since January 2017, was for years one of the most prestigious coaches in the country, having prepared sport figures such as Antonio Peñalver , a silver medal at the 1992 Barcelona Games , who testified against him during the trial.
