Ryan Babel has confirmed at De Telegraaf on Thursday that he will return to Ajax. The Amsterdammer comes on a rental basis from the Turkish Galatasaray.
"It is quite bizarre to be back, because it all went so fast", says Babel shortly after his arrival in Amsterdam. "But I am happy with it. It is no secret that I am an Ajax player and have always remained."
The 33-year-old Babel will undergo a medical examination on Friday at his new employer, where he will stay until the end of the season. The 63-time international has a contract with Galatasaray until mid-2022.
Babel started his career at Ajax in 2004 and also played in the 2012/2013 season in Amsterdam. In total he came on behalf of the club with which he twice became champion to 133 games, 29 goals and 19 assists.
After his first years with Ajax, Babel left for Liverpool in 2007 for more than 17 million euros. He then also played for Hoffenheim, Kasimpasa, Al Ain, Deportivo La Coruña, Besiktas and Fulham and signed with Galatasaray until mid-2022.
