Throughout the years in the Tour de Ski, the monster climb up the summit at Alpe Cermis has been completed with a hunting start where the riders started in turn according to the time they had in the total.

New for this year's edition is that it will instead be a mass start.

Several riders, both ladies and gentlemen, are now worried that it may be a messy race on Sunday.

The reason is that large parts of the track until climbing begins are very narrow. It will make it more difficult for those who want to advance in the field.

- I am very excited about how it will develop. I think it will require a lot of discipline from the riders. If someone tries to try someone down in the valley, it can easily lead to a fall. I think it's a bit of a shame. It is rather first up the hill that you can walk everything you have. There is no other track that is approved for mass starts that is as narrow as this one, says Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen to SVT Sport.

Russian coach Marcus Crammer worried about the course

Östberg counts himself

Both Johannes Kläbo and Sergei Ustiugov are on the same track.

- It's a crazy decision. A lot may happen during the mass start, says the Russian.

- I think some things can happen, but I hope people will not try to drive and pass and think that miracles will happen, says Kläbo.

In the total, it is Kläbo and Ustiugov together with Alexander Bolshunov who make up the victory on the men's side. There, the Norwegian has a second to benefit when the mass start starts tomorrow.

On the women's side, Therese Johaug leads Jacobsen and Natalija Nepryajeva. Ingvild Flugstad Östberg, who is 23 seconds after Johaug, in fourth place, has already counted himself from the final win.

- I have nothing to do with the top, but it will be to fight for a very good place anyway. It takes a lot before I advance on such a stage, but I'll do my best. This is the worst race you do throughout the year. That you even stand up .. this is awful, laughs Östberg.
