It was Rasmus Sandin who gave the junior crowns the lead as he dotted 1–0 from his back seat after a won drawing by David Gustafsson. But the joy was short-lived when Russia acknowledged to 1-1 in powerplate after 03.04 through Ivan Morozov.

The minute after, Sweden was hit by a match penalty when Nils Höglander tackled Grigorij Denisenko in the head. Just 28 seconds into the numerical over, Russia had turned in the match as Alexander Khovanov put 2-1. Sweden failed to stop the bleeding and Russia extended the lead to 3-1 through Yehor Sokolov. That after a goalkeeper scoreboard by Sweden's goalkeeper Hugo Alnefelt who did not get rid of the puck just before the goal.

Powerplay

After 13.36 the junior crowns got the chance to play powerplay for the first time in the semi-finals. Then Samuel Fagemo struck and reduced after a diagonal pass by Nils Lundkvist.
