During the Christmas and midday days, William Nylander found the right against the Carolina, New Jersey and New York Rangers. And on New Year's Eve it became another goal, now against Minnesota. But the star was humble after the last hit of the year.

- I was just trying to put myself in front of goals, it was a bit disappointing, but I like to take those goals too, says Nylander to Toronto's website.

Tangled situation

The 23-year-old's goal gave 2-0 away to Minnesota and the important goal on the road to the 4-1 win came half a minute before the first period rest. After a tangled situation in front of the Minnesota goal, the Swede was able to battle with the goalkeeper Devan Dubnyk and two home backs to puck the puck.

In the second period, Nylander then passed to Auston Matthews, before going 3-0. In the end, Toronto won by 4-1.

"Good hockey player"

Matthews and John Tavares were also noted for their goals and assists. However, the first goal of the match came from Alexander Kerfoot.

- They (Tavares and Nylander) are such good hockey players. You can put whoever you want in their chain and that player would be successful. They play so much in the offensive zone so it's just a matter of reading them and staying ahead, says Kerfoot according to nhl.com.
