Sandin got an ugly slashing over the wrist in the final minutes of the New Year's Eve group finale against Slovakia, Swedish victory with 6–2, by Martin Fasko-Rudas.

An X-ray at Trinec Hospital showed that nothing was broken and on New Year's Day he was officially given the green light by Ryan Allenby.

Sandin did not participate in the collective training, but jumped in afterwards and ran some individual tests. He was not available for interviews.

"It's about soft tissue damage"

- It is about soft tissue damage so it becomes a little bleeding, it obviously hurts but we do what we can to cushion it, says the doctor.

- He has been in physio, then he gets pain relief and then he gets to rest his hand. We think it's going to be totally okay, ”he says.

TT: Will he get a syringe for the match?

- I don't want to comment on that.

Association captain Tomas Montén was pleased with the positive message for the backcliff as from the Toronto Marlies who debuted with the Maple Leafs in the NHL during the fall.

- You always want your best players with, it feels good that everyone is available, says Montén.

Sandin has played the most when the opposition has been at its best and had 26.25 in ice time in the premiere against Finland.

The union captain says there are no restrictions on how much he can play Sandin against the Czech Republic.
