French Football Club Monaco announced on Sunday the appointment of Robert Moreno as his new coach.

Moreno 's appointment came a few hours after the dismissal of Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim.

Moreno's contract runs until the summer of 2022, hoping the team will be lifted from its grip.

"Monaco announces the end of cooperation with Leonardo Jardim and the arrival of Robert Moreno as coach," Monaco said in his statement.

"Robert Moreno will take over early next week. We are very happy to announce the arrival of Robert Moreno, we trust him and his ability to lead the team to success, we welcome him in Monaco," the statement added.

Monaco is seventh in the French league table with 28 points from eight wins, four draws and six defeats.
