The sixth edition of the Zayed Charity Marathon, which was held yesterday in the city of Suez, brought happiness to the hearts of the people of the city after the unveiling of new charitable initiatives coinciding with the establishment of the great charitable event.

The head of the Supreme Organizing Committee, Staff Lt. Gen. Muhammad Hilal Al-Kaabi, revealed new initiatives that brought joy to the hearts of Egyptians, under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

Al-Kaabi said in a press statement, that a number of people in Suez Governorate had been granted Hajj and Umrah trips to the Holy Land, and to provide an apartment for a family from the slums to live in.

He added, "The aim of such new initiatives, in addition to allocating the marathon revenue for the benefit of the National Cancer Institute of the University of Cairo, is to cultivate a culture of love of goodness and raise awareness to support community-based initiatives to help those in need."

Al-Kaabi said that the organizing committee decided to raise the value of financial prizes for the category of people of determination as of the seventh edition to reach one million Egyptian pounds instead of 500 thousand.

The Zayed Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Action supported the National Cancer Institute with the latest device for diagnosing and treating tumors in the world, called "Cyber ​​Naif" at a cost of 120 million Egyptian pounds, according to the Director General of the Zayed Foundation, Hamad Salem Al-Amri.

A delegation from the Zayed Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Affairs and representatives of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council visited the 57357 Children's Cancer Hospital.

The delegation members presented gifts to the children and listened to hospital officials about their needs in the coming period. Al-Amri stressed that the Foundation will continue its charitable work in every part of the world, saying: "Our concern remains to please every needy person we can reach, and we are seeking in Egypt to provide more in the coming period of work to support the infected children."

The runners-up of the Al-Houmm competitions, Mohamed Ahmed Rashad, drew attention to him through his fourth appearance in the Zayed Marathon. Rashad was working in the Egyptian Armed Forces in the private escort sector for several years, then he became a member of the Egypt national team for wheelchairs, and led his country in the World Cup in Australia in 2000.

Rashad confirmed in a press statement that he was "keen to participate in the marathon in order to support the idea, especially as it touched the category of people of determination."
