After a season last year with many big disappointments, Calle Halfvarsson had high hopes for the season 19/20. But Calle has got off to a good start. After the VC premiere in Ruka, Halfvarsson suffered a cold that kept him away from training and competition. When the cold had dropped then another setback, a new cold and a new absence came.

- I'm fine now, but it's boring. You do not train all summer to sit at home and watch when the others go. It is clear that it is tough, says Halfvarsson to SVT Sport.

"Have no hopes"

However, Calle Halfvarsson is now healthy and will be on the starting line when the Tour de Ski starts in Lenzerheide. But Sweden's best male cross-country skiers have no greater hope for results in this year's Tour de Ski.

- It has not been very training so I am quite uncertain about my form. It will be very special I have no hopes for this tour and I think I have to compete in my race. We will see how it will be tomorrow, I do not think I will have my best day, says Halfvarsson to SVT Sport.

Calle Halfvarsson has had recurring problems with colds that have put spikes in the wheel for the 30-year-old.

- It feels like I have easy to carry on viruses and stuff. I try to be serious and take care of hand hygiene when we are traveling. I've probably never had a season where I haven't had a season without a cold or any other problems, says Halfvarsson.
