Manchester City spent its last cartridge to face Liverpool and lost it with a loss to Wolverhampton (3-2), after a comeback led by Adama Traore , author of a goal and an assist with which he left Pep's team Guardiola to 13 points of the leader with one more game.

Now, after another prick, the "Cityzens", except Liverpool's hecatomb in the second leg of the course, said goodbye to the League title. With their top rivals for the intractable title, they could not miss this Premier League course against one of their executioners, who managed to win this course for the second time at Manchester City. That, they had not achieved since 1960.

They did not get it. They fell back into Traoré's trap, which in October was already in charge of dispatching the City with a double at home and repeated excellent performance a few months later. And, all, partly thanks to an action at the beginning that forced the men of Guardiola to row against adversity from the tenth minute of the match.

The expulsion of Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson was key. A two-touch play changed the fate of Manchester City, which with one player less could not survive a very complicated encounter. The Calvary began with a long pass from the central Conor Coady to the back of the Argentine Nicolás Otamendi remote control towards Diogo Jota . In front of Ederson, the Portuguese beat the goalkeeper with a hat and ended up on the ground knocked down by his rival. The expulsion, just, condemned the City.

Guardiola took the Argentine Sergio "Kun" Agüero out of the field so that Claudio Bravo could enter Chile. He sacrificed a player who came to the appointment with physical problems and somewhat resentful. With success, he chose a footballer who was doubtful until the last minute and with a 4-4-1, with Raheem Sterling on end, he managed to hold Wolverhampton.

Interestingly, the Wolves generated nothing during the first 45 minutes. With one more player on the field, he failed to take advantage of his superiority. Only Adama Traoré insisted on applying more revolutions to the duel, but he did it without success. Again and again, he collided with the Frenchman Benjamin Mendy , who during the initial act did an excellent job to stop the Spaniard.

And, without much stress, the City won a very valuable prize thanks to a very clear penalty committed by Leander Dendoncker for knocking down Ryhad Mahrez . After reviewing the VAR, Sterling had to launch twice to score. First, after a stop by the Portuguese Rui Patricio , he repeated because two Wolves players got into the area before launching. Then he met Rui Patricio again, but Sterling himself picked up the rejection to open the scoring.

There wasn't much more history in the first 45 minutes. The Wolves, who dreamed of winning the City for the first time twice in the same season, life was complicated when he had everything in favor to accomplish that feat. A penalty, began the path to defeat that was extended a few minutes after the resumption.

In a second blow, with a perfect triangulation between Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne and Sterling that culminated the third, the Guardiola team took more advantage and licked into a second goal that seemed to end any Wolves aspiration to get some point.

Then Traoré appeared. Now, more inspired, he began to win his duels with Mendy. If in the first part he could not with the Frenchman, in the second he changed the tables and provoked with his insistence the reaction of his team. He himself got the prize of the goal with a zapatazo from outside the area with more than half an hour of game ahead and then he took revenge personally of Mendy to win the personal battle.

On the last breath, Traoré stole his wallet in the area and gave the ball to Mexican Raúl Jiménez , who at ease tied the game. Mendy, wounded to death, allowed the best player of Wolverhampton to stand as the hero of a team that, emboldened, made the third one minute from the end through the Irishman Matt Doherty . It was the death certificate of the City, which, with one more game, ended the day of boxing day to thirteen points of the leader, Liverpool. The German team Jurgen Klopp already savors the Premier League.
