On the second day, it is time for the premiere of the year when the Junior crowns are set against the heritage enemy and the title holder Finland.

This time, the tournament in the Czech Republic - after three years on the rake in North America - is decided, which makes the broadcasting times for Swedish TV audiences much better.

Jonas Andersson, the former NHL player and the Tre Kronor profile, is doing his fifth straight tournament as SVT's expert commentator and has seen the interest grow, grow and grow.

- I think it goes through the box that it is genuine. All players think it is really fun to be there. It's a really fun tournament, ”says Andersson.

"Small note"

When he himself played the tournament 2000-01 together with, among others, Henrik Lundqvist and Niklas Kronwall, there was no today's hype.

- You can safely say that. There was no media at all. The tournament went to Moscow and we beat Russia in the quarterfinals, it was completely crazy mood on the stands, we did a huge performance and it became a small, small note in DN, he says and laughs at the memory.

Unique junior championship

The viewer record is from the 2014 final in Malmö between Sweden and Finland which attracted just over 1.5 million viewers. The highest viewership figure last year was 894,000 from Sweden's quarter-final against Switzerland (start 22.00).

No other junior championship gets so much attention in Swedish media.

The timing of the championship, between Christmas and the thirteenth weekend when many are vacant, is of course a factor. Sweden's successes - the team has played medal matches every year except last year - another.

What do you think about Sweden's chances?

- I think they have a good chance. I do not see Sweden as a gold favorite, but definitely a medal candidate.
