In the placement heat, Rönngren was hit by the Norwegian, Lucas Braathen, who finished fifth. There was also a Norwegian winner in the form of Rasmus Windingstad who beat German Stefan Luitz in the final.

Swedish concealer Rönngren, 26, was responsible for a scare already in the 16 part of the parallel-sized slalom in Alta Badia. He knocked out Alexis Pinturault's merits and finished in the eighth. Rönngren made it to the quarterfinals only after beating Loic Meillard.

The eighth part was only driven in a run after the draw and Rönngren won with 0.1 in the red track, a track that Rönngren then had the rest of the evening, which was considered to have a faster finish. It was close to becoming a semi-final but in the quarter, also that in a ride, the Swede went out against German Stefan Luitz with just 0.01. The German then made it to the final. Unable to see with the naked eye as the hauliers crossed the finish line.

Success for Rönngren - close rattle in the quarter

Girlfriend Anna Swenn-Larsson cheered on the slopes

Girlfriend Anna Swenn-Larsson had stopped to cheer on the slopes. In the first race, Pinturault ran out and was penalized with the max mark 0.5 seconds to the second. However, Rönngren pulled out the lead and won a total of 0.62, knocking out one of today's favorites in an impressive way.

Matts Olsson has had a heavy season start and had another weak day on the slopes and drove out or gave up in the second ride.

- He gives up a little grand there, a little strange. He could have taken that gate. I don't know what's going on at Matts Olsson, says Pernilla Wilberg about Olsson's efforts against the Norwegian, Leif Kristian Nestvold Haugen. Two years ago, Olsson won this competition, his only victory in the World Cup.

There were nice conditions in the Italian alpine ski resort with clear weather in the electric light.

In the qualifying, Mattias Rönngren was 26th and Matts Olsson was 27th out of the 32 who qualified for the 16-part and the final race.

It was an eventful introduction to the competitions in Alta Badia.
