It became a shudder at the end when a chasing cluster with Kaisa Mäkäräinen approached alarmingly fast, but Persson held back and challenged Wierer in the last uphill and they bumped but stood on their legs. In goal, Persson was 0.2 after Wierer. Persson's previous best place in the World Cup was fifth.

- It was a super race from start to finish. Great fun and impressive, says coach Mattias Nilsson to SVT Sport.

- It was becoming an even better position when she bumped uphill but got stuck, says Nilsson.

Yesterday, Persson had just the third stretch of time in the chase when she went from 44th to eleventh place.

Tiril Eckhoff did as his compatriot Johannes Thingnes Bö. She was superior in today's mass start and took her fourth straight victory in the World Cup. The victory margin down to Wierer was 1.24.9. It was twice the winning margin as Thingnes Bö.

In the cloud mouth of Persson's pallet place, Mona Brorsson entered as ten (two booms) and Elvira Öberg finished 23rd (4).

Hanna Öberg felt her light cold, which made her miss yesterday's hunting start, and traveled home before today's mass start over 12.5 km.
