In 2015, Håkan Ericson took the U21 national team to the European gold in the Czech Republic. In 2017, he left his assignment as the League Captain. Since then he has been without a mission but is now ready for a four-year as the Confederation of the Faroe Islands.

Ericson replaces the Danish, Lars Olsen, who leaves after the Faroe Islands finished second last in Sweden's European qualifying group.
