Dick Advocaat is very pleased with the way the players of Feyenoord approached PSV on Sunday. The team from Rotterdam won in De Kuip without playing great with 3-1 from the Eindhoven players.

"The boys have all worked extremely hard against a team that has a little more playing football than we do. The game could be better and we know that too, but I am very happy with this victory," said Advocaat in conversation with FOX Sports .

Feyenoord was pushed back both at the start of the first and the second half, but the Rotterdammers remained unaffected in those phases and were themselves extremely effective. At half-time Feyenoord led 2-0 through Steven Berghuis's goals and the captain signed for a hat trick after the break.

"In the last matches our game was good and we were not rewarded, now you saw in phases that PSV dictated the game and we scored twice", says Advocaat, who finds it no surprise that his team was too strong for it on paper stronger PSV.

"PSV always has problems here. When I was a trainer there, I never won in De Kuip. But if you see how the boys worked this week, you can only give them compliments. The game will get better by itself."

Berghuis happy with tip Robin van Persie

Berghuis is proud that he was worth gold with three goals for Feyenoord, even though two hits were the result of a penalty. In the opening goal, Berghuis was good for his husband and he headed the ball beautifully behind goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall.

"I knew I had to come for my husband. It's the eagerness you need to score goals," Berghuis told FOX Sports . "Robin van Persie has told me that I have to do more running actions in the penalty area and I take that lesson every time."

The Feyenoord captain, who made the first hat trick of his career, realized that the team from Rotterdam could not complain about the result. "We were the happiest team. It was a fairly equal upcoming game and we scored at the right times. It couldn't be better of course."

Because of the victory, Feyenoord is only three points behind number four PSV. The last league defeat of the team of Advocaat dates from the end of October, by beating Ajax in the Johan Cruijff ArenA 4-0.
