It is a hockey world in mourning after the shocking news that Oskar Lindblom, forward of the Philadelphia Flyers, suffered from Ewing's sarcoma, an unusual form of skeletal cancer that usually affects young people and children.

Following the message last night, Lindblom has received congratulations from many parts of the hockey world.

- It's terribly awful. I played the World Cup together with Oskar this spring, it's an incredibly nice guy, ”Gabriel Landeskog tells Aftonbladet.

"So damn horrible and unfair!"

Robert Hägg, teammate with Lindblom in Philadelphia, is saddened by the news.

- Sure it came as a shock to all of us. It's so unreal, I've known Oskar since I was 16, so it's hard right now, Hägg tells Expressen.

NHL colleagues John Klingberg and Jacob de la Rose both send their support to Lindblom through social media.

“So damn horrible and unfair! Thinking of you Oskar, ”writes Jacob de la Rose.

“Fuck cancer! We fight with you, ”writes Dallasback John Klingberg.

Oskar Lindblom is educated in Brynäs hockey organization and the reactions have been strong from Gävle.

- Everything is so unreal, this horrible disease has hit one of the world's absolute best guys. It is impossible to understand his situation and how he feels. Of course, all thoughts go to him and his loved ones, says Brynäss Player Johan Alcén, who played with Lindblom in the club to Expressen.

Stefan Bengtzén was head of sports in Brynäs when Oskar Lindblom was there, suffering with the 23-year-old.

- I can't help but feel a bit unfair as Oskar is one of the absolute finest people I've worked with, Bengtzén tells Expressen.
