The General Assembly of the Football Association decided during the emergency meeting held today, Saturday, at the InterContinental Festival City Dubai, to form a transitional committee for the Football Association headed by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, following the resignation of the Federation’s Board of Directors headed by Marwan bin Ghalita before the end of its legal session in 2020, as The formation of the transitional committee that will manage the affairs of the federation until the election of a new board of directors for the 2020-2024 electoral cycle is in implementation of Article 151 of the Articles of Association of the Football Association.
The transitional committee included 10 members who are the head of the Emirates Professional League, Abdullah Al-Junaibi, Hisham Al-Zarouni, Gha’a Al-Hajri, Ali Hamad, Amal Buslakh, Aisha Al-Tunaiji, Khalfan Balhoul, Issa Mir, Ahmad Darwish and Hamid Al-Tayer. .
The General Assembly meeting was chaired by the oldest represented member and he is a member of the Board of Directors of Al-Ahly Youth Club Ibrahim Abdel-Malik, according to Article 151 of the Articles of Association of the Football Association, which states that in the event of the resignation of the Board of the Football Association, it is chaired by the General Assembly meeting of the oldest member represented .
The General Secretary of the Football Association, Muhammad Hazam Al-Dhaheri, revealed the names of eight members of the board of directors of the federation who submitted their resignations, namely the President of the Federation Marwan bin Ghalita, members Rashid Al Zaabi, Muhammad Obaid Al Yamahi, Khalifa Al-Ghafli, Hassan Abdul-Wahab, Muslim Al-Kathiri, Muhammad Mubarak Al-Hajri and Saeed Al-Tunaiji, and attended the General Assembly meeting Representatives of 30 clubs out of 31, while representatives of only one club is Al Dhafra
It is expected that the Transitional Committee of the Football Association will hold its first meeting after its formation in order to distribute tasks and bags in preparation for the start of a new phase of work in the preparation of the national teams for their upcoming entitlements in the forefront of which is the national team that is preparing to play its matches in the remaining rounds in the joint qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup.
The transitional committee will call for a general assembly to elect two committees, one to oversee the election of a new board of directors and another to appeal the upcoming electoral process.
